Celebrating Our Estates

This month we've celebrated three key national awareness days: Northamptonshire Day, Oxfordshire Day and Essex Day which were formed to celebrate the cultural heritage of these places. But, what do these attractive counties all have in common? Well, collectively they house a selection of our owned and managed retirement developments which provide thriving independent communities for hundreds of residents across these counties.

Read on to hear some of the key cultural and natural beauty highlights that make each of these counties attractive places to live and retire in the UK.

One of our estates is located in the picturesque market town of Oundle, Northamptonshire - a place where history, community, and comfort come together.

Nestled along the River Nene, Oundle is steeped in heritage dating back to Roman times and the Saxon era. With its Georgian architecture, vibrant local shops, and cultural gems like the Oundle Museum and Historical Society, it’s no wonder this town is a sought-after destination for retirement living.

Last year, we held an open day at the estate which saw families from across the region visit the estate, with several new residents now calling Riverside Maltings home. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the estate and the values of ELM Group and RLHA -putting people first and creating communities that thrive.

Oxfordshire is a county rich in heritage, natural beauty and vibrant local life β€” and we’re proud celebrate the independent retirement living estates we manage on behalf of Beechcroft Developments in some of its most popular towns: Burford, Witney, Wheatley, Watlington and Wallingford.

Each estate offers more than just a place to live, they offer a lifestyle rooted in comfort, independence and connection.

🌿 Burford, known as the β€˜gateway to the Cotswolds’, is steeped in history, from its medieval bridge and wool trade legacy to the charming Witney Street and Burford Garden Centre.

🏞️ Witney blends market town energy with riverside tranquillity, offering easy access to local shops, cafés and cultural spots.

πŸš‰ Wheatley provides a peaceful village atmosphere with excellent transport links and a strong sense of community β€” ideal for those seeking a quieter pace without losing connectivity.

🏰 Watlington, England’s smallest town, is full of character and surrounded by the Chiltern Hills β€” a haven for walkers and nature lovers.

🏘️ Wallingford itself is a historic market town with a vibrant high street, riverside parks and strong community spirit.

Oxfordshire is not just a beautiful place to retire - it’s a place to thrive. The estates we manage are designed to support independent living while fostering community, wellbeing and peace of mind.
