ELM Group Annual Conference 2025

A Day of Inspiration, Insight & Celebration

Earlier this month, colleagues from across the country came together at the magnificent De Vere Horsley Estate in Surrey for ELM Group’s annual company conference: a day filled with learning, reflection and celebration. It was an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and recognise the incredible work happening across our estates and within our teams.

 Celebrating Our Marketing Milestones

The conference opened with a spotlight on our marketing team, whose creativity, strategy and storytelling have made an impact this year. Their campaigns have helped highlight the practical work ELM undertakes as a property management company, whilst capturing and showcasing news from across our estates; from successful maintenance projects, to community events which help to capture a snapshot of life on one of our independent retirement estates and our hands-on approach to property management.

In October alone, ELM Group has been shortlisted for six prestigious industry awards, a testament to the team’s ability to elevate our brand. Following ELM’s property acquisition last year, the marketing team has played a vital role in communicating our continued growth and upholding our commitment to high standards and ethical approach to leasehold management. By highlighting genuine updates from our estates, the marketing efforts this year have provided a transparent and accurate representation of ELM Group’s identity and the tangible difference we make within our communities.

Inspiration from Chris & Denise Arthey

We were privileged to be joined by motivational speakers Chris and Denise Arthey, who shared their extraordinary journey following a near-fatal motorcycle accident while on assignment in Houston, Texas. Their story — captured in their book Highway 35: Meeting Disaster Head on with Hope — reminded us all of the power of resilience, perspective, and purpose. Every team member received a copy, and many of us left with renewed motivation for both our careers and personal lives.

Learning & Leadership

The morning continued with sessions supporting our team's practical knowledge. James Clewlow from law firm Cripps led a lease information session, addressing key challenges in lease interpretation. In addition, Lionel Bricknell and Jack Maiden from Karntek delivered an important session on fire door safety, reinforcing our commitment to compliance and resident wellbeing.

Collaboration & Feedback

In the afternoon, breakout discussions gave our portfolio teams a chance to share feedback, explore challenges, and suggest ways we can work better as a team. These conversations were followed by panel discussions tackling everyday scenarios — offering practical advice and sharing wisdom on how our team can navigate complex situations with confidence.

Compliance & Innovation

We also heard a positive update from our compliance team, along with our FixFlo super users, who shared the successes of implementing the FixFlo maintenance reporting software over the past year. Their insights highlighted how technology is helping us streamline operations and improve service across our estates.

We look forward to sharing much more on this over the next year as we continue to integrate this system across the business.

Recognising Excellence

To conclude the day, we were honoured to recognise the exceptional contributions of our colleagues across the organisation:

  • Twenty-one colleagues received Make a Difference awards, celebrating those who consistently embody ELM Group’s core values through their hard work, dedication and impact on our communities.

  • Seventeen team members were presented with Long Service Awards, acknowledging their unwavering commitment, professionalism, and years of loyal service that have helped shape ELM Group.

These awards reflect the heart of our organisation and our people who go above and beyond, day after day.

A Shared Purpose

The conference was more than just an event — it was a powerful reflection of who we are and a celebration of our shared purpose to make a difference in the communities we serve.

In their closing remarks, Chair Jimmy Miller and Board member Paul Milner captured the spirit of the day eloquently summarising the stories and insights shared, and highlighting that the annual conference stands as a testament to the passion and purpose that drive our people.

Here’s to another year of impact and making a difference — together.
