Supporting #VolunteersWeek 2025
Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers.
This year we wanted to shine a light on some of the great organisations that are out there supporting older people in the community, which are powered by amazing staff & volunteers:

The Age UK Network is made up of independent charities who are all working together to change how we age. They provide crucial support for older people and drive change in pursuit of their vision of a world where every older person feels included and valued.
Local Age UK charities work to make communities across the UK better places to grow older. They are experts in their local areas and their services are driven by what their communities need.
Volunteers are essential at Age UK; they help change loneliness into connection, worries into answers and even old clothes into much-needed funds that keep Age UK's services running. Read more about how to volunteer with Age UK here.

Founded in November 2013, The Silverline Helpline opened its lines to older people across the UK, they aim to:
Offer friendship, conversation and connection to the older people who call them and ease feelings of loneliness and social or physical isolation.
Provide a 24-hour helpline for older people who are seeking practical information or guidance on issues that are affecting them.
Empower older people experiencing neglect or abuse to access the right protection and, if appropriate, connect them with specialist services who can help.
Since their very first call, The Silver Line’s dedicated team of staff and volunteers have picked up the phone and spoken with millions of older people, and their team of dedicated staff and volunteers continue to offer older people a vital lifeline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Today, many people rely on technology to help them stay connected. But for many older people, talking with someone over the telephone is the only way they have of truly connecting with another person.
If you need to call, you can reach The Silver Line on 0800 470 80 90, all day, every day.
