Strong passwords. Safer digital lives.

As our digital lives grow, protecting your personal information has never been more important. Passwords are the first line of defence against cyber threats, yet many people still rely on weak or reused passwords, making it easier for hackers to gain access to sensitive data.

This #WorldPasswordDay, take a moment to review your password habits and strengthen your online security.

We've pulled together some practical tips from across the web which are shown in the video below:

Use three random words – The National Cyber Security Centre recommends combining unrelated words for a strong, memorable password.
Make it long – Aim for at least 16 characters. Longer passwords are harder to crack.
Avoid reusing passwords – Each account should have its own unique password.
Consider a password manager – Tools like LastPass can help you store and generate secure passwords.
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) – Adding an extra layer of security makes it much harder for unauthorised users to access your accounts.

Avoid using personal details - avoid names, birthdays, or pet names in your passwords.

And remember - If you suspect your account may have been compromised, change your password immediately.

Staying vigilant online is essential for peace of mind, especially as we rely more on digital platforms for everyday life. Let’s make strong password practices a habit and keep our online communities safe.
