Celebrating Female Leadership at ELM Group
International Women’s Day (8 March) serves as an annual reminder that, despite meaningful progress, women remain underrepresented in leadership and decision‑making roles around the globe. Many are also still concentrated in the informal sector, highlighting the continued need for action, visibility, and advocacy.
At ELM Group, we are proud to champion a very different story.
Although we operate within the traditionally male‑dominated property industry, our organisation stands as an example of what meaningful representation can look like when equality, ethics, and fairness are embedded into everyday practice. These principles form part of The ELM Way — our commitment to being transparent, ethical, and always doing the right thing — including how we recruit, develop, and empower our people.

Strong Female Leadership at Every Level
Across ELM Group, women play a central role in shaping our direction and ensuring we continue delivering the high standards of service and professionalism that define us.
We’re incredibly proud to say that, as well as having a female Chief Executive, we have a senior leadership team made up of mostly women (85%), four female Area Managers out of a team of eight - who oversee over 130 estate managers - and an 80% female finance team.
Women in key decision-making roles are not uncommon throughout our organisation generally; they are thriving in key roles such as Head of Estates, Director of Assets & Compliance and Assistant Finance Director - and long may this continue.
This representation is not accidental. It is the outcome of consistent values‑driven decision‑making, fair recruitment processes, and an environment that supports women to grow, lead, and thrive.
Words of Wisdom from our Team
We asked a few of our team members what they think about ELM Group leading the way with strong female representation across the business, and the impact this has on culture. Here’s what they had to say:
“Having a mostly female leadership team offers a unique perspective that fosters a truly supportive environment. The atmosphere tends to be less competitive and more collaborative than when I have worked in male dominated teams. While we have robust discussions, honesty is valued and everyone feels comfortable sharing their views. This surely has to be because we have a female chief executive who encourages and mentors women to step into leadership positions. There are no barriers or ‘glass ceilings’ for women in the organisation, creating a culture where women are empowered to lead with confidence.”
“Being part of a predominantly female team at ELM Group is more than just a source of pride—it is a continual wellspring of motivation and inspiration. Our collective strength, empathy, and determination distinguish us, fueling innovation and nurturing a workplace where every voice is valued and heard. The diversity of perspectives within our team, coupled with our collaborative spirit, demonstrates that when women champion one another and lead with integrity, there are no limits to what we can accomplish. Although our focus lies within the residential estate management sector—dealing with the tangible aspects of bricks and mortar—our work is deeply intertwined with our customers who call these properties home. Their experiences and opinions are integral to the way we operate.”
“I’m proud to lead the estates team in an organisation where women are strongly represented in senior roles. Working in a culture that champions female leadership fosters collaboration, confidence and a shared commitment to doing what’s right for our residents and communities. I’m inspired every day by the women across our business who bring fresh ideas, challenge norms and support one another to succeed. Together, we continue to create a workplace where women can thrive and lead with purpose.”
Celebrating Today. Shaping Tomorrow.
This International Women’s Day, we extend our gratitude to the women who lead our organisation, the women who support our teams at every level and the women across our independent living communities who inspire us through their stories.
Thank you for helping make ELM Group the organisation it is today.
