Mental Health Awareness Week
21 May 2020
This week is mental health awareness week, it seems particularly relevant at this time due to the current Covid-19 outbreak and the effect that this situation is having on us all. Our staff and customers, like many others have found that recently life has changed, requiring us to adapt and adjust the way we live for a while.
We all adapt differently to change, so we wanted to put out a little reminder, especially during these strange and uncertain times; please look after yourself, be kind, talk to those around you and remember above all that you are not alone.
The theme this year is 'kindness', when we think about 'being kind' what comes to mind first? Kindness doesn’t need to be a grand gesture, the little things can have just as big of an impact; such as checking in safely with a neighbour or calling a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while.
Kindness also doesn’t just positively affect the person on the receiving end; people who are kind and compassionate see clear benefits to their own wellbeing and happiness too and it can help reduce stress and improve our emotional wellbeing. Talking to each other and finding new ways to connect is so important.
Some of the ladies at one of our estates are having a sunflower growing competition and came together for a chat to compare their sunflower's progress. It will be interesting to see whose grows the tallest!
And at another estate; several people have very kindly donated roses and bouquets of flowers to brighten up the estate for everyone to enjoy, a joint effort from all and a great way to keep cheerful.
